DOME-BOUND VIKINGS FANS
ENCOURAGED TO AVOID MoA TRAIN STATION

BLOOMINGTON – (Dec. 9) -- Metro Transit and Mall of America officials reminded Vikings fans today that Fort Snelling Station and 28th Avenue Station park-and-ride lots – not Mall of America – are the best places to park for those using the Hiawatha light-rail line for Vikings games.

“Mall of America is not a designated park-and-ride for any transit service – bus or rail,” said Mark Fuhrmann, Metro Transit deputy general manager. “It is especially important to recognize and honor this during the holiday shopping season when the Mall needs all its spaces for its customers.”

Fans will find 539 spaces at 28th Avenue Station, just two blocks east of the Mall of America’s east lot. Another 974 spaces are available at Fort Snelling where the north lot rarely fills during Viking Sundays.

Another 250 free parking spaces can be found in two lots – east and west of Lake Street/Midtown Station.

Maps and directions to these park-and-ride lots can be viewed on Metro Transit’s web site: www.metrotransit.org/serviceInfo/parkRide.asp.
