Hop on a hybrid bus – for free!

Take a look at the future of public transportation in the Twin Cities! Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 20, and continuing through the end of the year, all rides on a select new Metro Transit Go Greener bus will be free. Metro Transit will rotate the bus on routes throughout the area and cover the farebox so you’ll know that ride is free!

All new hybrid buses are marked with a “Go Greener” design so they’re easy to spot.

Here’s a schedule of when and where you can ride hybrid bus #7111 for free Dec. 7-14:

• Friday, Dec. 7 Route 25 & Route 22

• Saturday, Dec. 8 Route 5

• Sunday, Dec. 9 Route 724

• Monday, Dec. 10 Route 141

• Tuesday, Dec. 11 Route 5

• Wednesday, Dec. 12 Route 724

• Thursday, Dec. 13 Route 19

• Friday, Dec. 14 Route 22

Metro Transit is introducing 19 new hybrid buses – along with 150 more to follow over the next five years – to its fleet. The new buses, the cornerstone of the agency’s Go Greener initiative, deliver 22 percent better fuel mileage and produce 90 percent fewer emissions than the buses they replace, and they’re exceptionally quiet.
