These routes changed on Dec. 12

On Saturday, Dec. 12, changes were made to routes operated by Metro Transit and regional transit providers.

This list is an overview of the changes. If your route is listed, please pick up an updated schedule for details. Schedules are available below, on buses and trains and at Metro Transit stores and outlets.

Marquette and 2nd transit corridor opens in downtown Minneapolis

These routes will travel on the reconstructed Marquette Avenue and 2nd Avenue in downtown Minneapolis:

Schedule times for these routes will be adjusted due to faster bus travel speeds through downtown. Routes will stop every other block. Please pick up a new printed schedule or click here to see which stops your route will serve on Marquette and 2nd avenues.

Route 4

  • Buses will return to regular routing on Lyndale Ave. S. between 77th St. and 82nd St.
  • Schedule times will be adjusted on some late-night weekday trips and on weekends.

Route 5

  • Frequency of service between branches will be adjusted to better match customer demand.
  • A new L terminal will be established at 33rd & Fremont in north Minneapolis.
  • Some weekday Route 5F trips will change to either L or M trips.
  • Schedule times will be adjusted due to the end of the Chicago Ave. detour.

Route 6

  • Route 6E and F trips will travel on Edinborough, 76th, Parklawn, 77th and Minnesota.
  • Schedule times will be adjusted to better match traffic conditions.

Route 9

  • Schedule times will be adjusted to better accommodate connections with Hiawatha Line.

Route 10

  • The timepoint at 53rd & University will move to 61st & University.
  • Schedule times will be adjusted due to transit signal priority technology at intersections along Central Ave.
  • Route 10U schedule times will be adjusted to better accommodate transfers to and from Northstar Line. Note: buses will not directly serve Fridley Station.

Route 12

  • Schedule times will be adjusted to better match customer demand and traffic conditions.

Route 14

  • Some frequency of service will be adjusted to better match customer demand.
  • A new H terminal will be established at Chicago & 56th St.
  • Route 14F service on Cargo Rd. will be eliminated.
  • Route 14B service on 38th St. will be eliminated.
  • Route 14E trips will serve 38th St. Station via 42nd St.

Route 20 NEW!  (eff. Nov. 30)

  • This route provides service between Ramp B/5th Street Transit Center and the south end of downtown Minneapolis along 9th and 10th streets.
  • Buses connect with each weekday Northstar morning arrival and each afternoon departure.

Route 22

  • Schedule times will be adjusted to better accommodate connections with Hiawatha Line, mainly at 38th Street Station.

Route 23

  • Schedule times will be adjusted to better accommodate connections with Hiawatha Line.

Route 27

  • Morning schedule times will be adjusted to better accommodate connections with Route 7, Hiawatha Line trains and express routes traveling on I-35W.

Route 32

  • Schedule times will be adjusted due to the end of construction on Lowry Ave.

Route 46

  • Schedule times will be adjusted to better accommodate connections with Hiawatha Line.

Route 55 – Hiawatha Line (eff. Oct. 17)

  • Schedule times were adjusted and timepoints were added at Target Field Station and American Boulevard Station (anticipated opening Dec. 12).

Route 62

  • Schedule times will be adjusted due to the end of the Rice Street bridge detour.

Route 68

  • Weekday service will be extended from Inver Hills Community College to the Arbor Pointe retail district in Inver Grove Heights.
  • A timepoint will be added at Cahill & Cafferty (Walmart).

Route 71

  • Weekday rush-hour service will be extended from Inver Hills Community College to the Arbor Pointe retail district in Inver Grove Heights.
  • A timepoint will be added at Cahill & Cafferty (Walmart).
  • An added weekday northbound trip will leave Concord & Concord Exchange at 11:20 p.m.

Route 133/135

  • Buses will serve stops lettered A on Marquette Ave. and G on 2nd Ave.
  • These routes will be combined on one printed schedule.

Route 146

  • Buses will serve stops lettered D on Marquette Ave. and G on 2nd Ave.
  • Route 146C trips will become Route 146A trips (see Route 578 for alternate service on Benton and Tracy).
  • Downtown starting point will be Gateway Ramp.

Route 152

  • The southbound trip currently scheduled at Oak & Washington at 4:35 p.m. will leave four minutes later.

Route 156

  • Buses will serve stops lettered A on Marquette Ave. and G on 2nd Ave.

Route 250

  • Buses will serve stops lettered C on Marquette Ave. and F on 2nd Ave.
  • Downtown starting point will be on 2nd Ave. S. at 11th St., not Leamington Ramp.
  • Northbound buses will travel to I-35W via Central and University.

Route 260/261

  • Buses will serve stops lettered C on Marquette Ave. and F on 2nd Ave.
  • Downtown starting point will be on 2nd Ave. S. at 11th St., not Leamington Ramp.

Route 262

  • Schedule times will be adjusted due to the end of the Rice Street bridge detour.

Route 264 NEW!

  • This route will provide express service between the new I-35W & County Road C Park & Ride ramp in Roseville and downtown Minneapolis.
  • Seven morning trips to downtown and eight return trips will be available.
  • Buses will serve stops lettered C on Marquette Avenue and F on 2nd Avenue.

Route 270

  • Buses will serve stops lettered C on Marquette Ave. and F on 2nd Ave.
  • Downtown starting point will be on 2nd Ave. S. at 11th St., not Leamington Ramp.

Route 275 (eff. Oct. 5)

  • An added trip to downtown St. Paul leaves Cub Foods at 7:16 a.m.

Route 288

  • Buses will serve stops lettered C on Marquette Ave. and F on 2nd Ave.
  • Afternoon trips will travel to I-35W via Central and University.
  • Buses will serve Forest Lake Transit Center via Fenway Ave. & Headwaters Pkwy.

Route 467

  • Buses will serve stops lettered D on Marquette Ave. and E on 2nd Ave.

Route 535

  • Buses will serve stops lettered C on Marquette Ave. and G on 2nd Ave.
  • The bus stops off of I-35W at 46th St. will be restored.
  • Downtown starting point will be on 2nd St. & 2nd Ave., not Gateway Ramp.

Route 540

  • Schedule times will be adjusted to better accommodate connections with Route 6 at Minnesota Dr. & France Ave. and with Route 535 at 76th St. & Newton Ave.
  • Schedule times will be adjusted on weekend Route 540B trips.

Route 542

  • Buses will return to routing on 76th/77th between Penn and Lyndale.
  • Route 542B trips will serve Knox Avenue Park & Ride for connections with Route 576.
  • Timepoints will be added at Knox Ave. Park & Ride and at 77th & Lyndale.
  • The timepoint at American Blvd. & Morgan Circle will be eliminated.
  • Bus stops will be added at these locations: 76th at Newton, Knox at 76th, Knox Avenue Park & Ride, 76th at Knox, 76th at Girard, 77th at Meridian Crossing, 77th at Best Buy driveway and 77th & Lyndale.
  • Bus stops will be removed on American Blvd. at Morgan and at Knox and on Newton at 76th.
  • Schedule times will be adjusted to better match traffic conditions and to accommodate transfers.

Route 552/553

  • Buses will serve stops lettered D on Marquette Ave. and G on 2nd Ave.
  • Downtown starting point will be 2nd Ave. S. at 2nd St.

Route 554

  • Buses will serve stops lettered A on Marquette Ave. and G on 2nd Ave.
  • Downtown starting point will be Gateway Ramp.

Route 558

  • Buses will serve stops lettered A on Marquette Ave. and G on 2nd Ave.

Route 576

  • Buses will serve stops lettered D on Marquette Ave. and G on 2nd Ave.
  • Downtown starting point will be 2nd St. at 2nd Ave.
  • Route 576B trips will travel on Lyndale between 77th and American Blvd.
  • A timepoint will be added at 77th & Lyndale for Route 576A and B trips. These trips will no longer serve 76th & Newton.
  • Bus stops will be added at these locations: 77th at Meridian Crossing, 77th at Best Buy driveway, 77th & Lyndale, Lyndale at 78th and Lyndale at American Blvd.
  • Schedule times will be adjusted due to faster travel times on I-35W Express Lanes.

Route 578

  • Buses will serve stops lettered D on Marquette Ave. and G on 2nd Ave.

Route 579 NEW! (eff. Jan. 19, 2010)

  • This new route will provide express service between Southdale Transit Center Park & Ride and U of M campus.
  • The route will offer four morning trips to campus and four afternoon return trips.

Route 587

  • Buses will serve stops lettered B on Marquette Ave. and H on 2nd Ave.
  • Buses will stop on 11th St. at Marquette, at Harmon and on Hawthorne at 12th St.
  • Downtown starting point will be Gateway Ramp, not 2nd St. N. & 2nd Ave. N.

Route 597

  • Buses will serve stops lettered D on Marquette Ave. and G on 2nd Ave.
  • Schedule times will be adjusted due to faster travel times on I-35W Express Lanes.
  • Three morning and three afternoon trips will be added.
  • Downtown starting point will be on 2nd St. at 2nd Ave. S.

Route 673

  • Buses will serve stops lettered B on Marquette Ave. and H on 2nd Ave.
  • Buses will stop on 11th St. at Marquette, at Harmon and on Hawthorne at 12th St.

Route 760/767

  • Buses will serve stops lettered D on Marquette Ave. and E on 2nd Ave.
  • Downtown starting point will be on 12th St. at Hennepin Ave.

Route 761/762

  • Buses will serve stops lettered D on Marquette Ave. and E on 2nd Ave.
  • Buses will stop on 3rd St. at Nicollet Mall and at 1st Ave. N.
  • Downtown starting point will be on 12th St. at Hennepin Ave.

Route 763

  • Buses will serve stops lettered B on Marquette Ave. and E on 2nd Ave.
  • Buses will stop on 3rd St. at Nicollet Mall and at 1st Ave. N.

Route 765

  • Buses will serve stops lettered B on Marquette Ave. and H on 2nd Ave.
  • Downtown starting point will be on 2nd Ave. at 10th St.

Route 766

  • Buses will serve stops lettered D on Marquette Ave. and H on 2nd Ave.
  • Buses will stop on 3rd St. at Nicollet Mall and at 1st Ave. N.
  • Downtown starting point will be on 2nd Ave. at 10th St.

Route 805

  • The first two northbound and the first two southbound trips on weekdays will leave eight minutes earlier to make reverse-commute connections at Anoka Station with downtown Anoka.

Route 811 NEW! (eff. Nov. 30)

  • This new weekday route serves Coon Rapids/Riverdale Station and neighborhoods along Round Lake and Bunker Lake boulevards and 38th, 7th, 9th and 119th avenues.
  • Buses connect on weekdays with each southbound morning and northbound afternoon Northstar train.

Route 824

  • All trips will serve Fridley Station. (eff. Nov. 16)
  • Buses will serve stops lettered B on Marquette Ave. and E on 2nd Ave.

Route 829

  • Buses will travel on Nicollet Mall in both directions. Buses will enter downtown via Central and 3rd avenues.

Route 831

  • The first two northbound and the first two southbound trips will leave eight minutes earlier.

Route 850/852

  • Buses will serve stops lettered B on Marquette Ave. and G on 2nd Ave.
  • Buses will stop on 3rd St. at Marquette and on 3rd St. at Hennepin Ave.

Route 851 (eff. Nov. 16)

  • This route was eliminated. Alternate service is available on Route 811 and Route 888 – Northstar Line.

Route 854

  • Buses will serve stops lettered B on Marquette Ave. and E on 2nd Ave.
  • Buses will stop on 3rd St. at Nicollet Mall and at 1st Ave. N.
  • Schedule times will be adjusted to better match traffic conditions.

Route 860

  • Northbound buses will start at Smith Ave. Ramp in downtown St. Paul.

Route 888 – Northstar Line (eff. Nov. 30)

  • Route 888 was assigned to the Northstar Commuter Rail Line.
  • Northstar will offer five morning trips from Big Lake to downtown Minneapolis and five return trips in the afternoon. One reverse commute roundtrip also will be offered on weekdays, and three weekend roundtrips are planned on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Northstar Commuter Coach bus service was eliminated.

Route 889 NEW! (eff. Nov. 30)

  • This express route travels from downtown Minneapolis to Anoka and Coon Rapids stations.
  • Buses leave downtown Minneapolis at 7:14 p.m.
  • Buses will serve stops lettered G on 2nd Ave.
  • Buses will stop on 3rd St. at Marquette and 3rd St. at Hennepin Ave.

Minnesota Valley Transit Authority

Route 420

  • A new schedule will be published Jan. 4 (with updated connection notes) in conjunction with the opening of the new Apple Valley Transit Station.

Route 426

  • Schedule times will be adjusted.
  • The loop serving Heart of the City Park & Ride will be eliminated.

Route 440

  • A new schedule will be published Jan. 4 in conjunction with the opening of the
    new Apple Valley Transit Station.

Route 442

  • Schedule times and connection notes will be adjusted when the new schedule is published Jan. 4 in conjunction with the opening of the new Apple Valley Transit Station.

Route 444

  • Designated stop system will be permanent.
  • Schedule times will be adjusted.
  • The temporary detour from Outer Ring Rd. to Burnhaven and Executive Blvd. will become permanent.

Route 445

  • Connection notes will be updated.

Route 446

  • Connection notes will be updated.

Note for Routes 460, 464, 465, 470, 472, 476, 477, 478 and 479:

  • Buses will serve stops lettered C on Marquette Ave. and E on 2nd Ave.
  • Customers wanting to get off at the Lake Street & I-35W bus stop on northbound trips are asked to notify the driver upon boarding the bus.

Route 460

  • Southbound trips from U of M will no longer stop at Gateway Ramp.

Route 465

  • Southbound trips from U of M will no longer stop at Gateway Ramp.
  • Schedule will include the new routing associated with the opening of the new Apple Valley Transit Station on Jan. 4.

Route 470

  • Connections notes will be updated.

Route 476

  • Southbound routing on Route 476R and 476V trips will be revised.
  • Connection notes were added.

Route 477

  • Schedule will include the new routing associated with the opening of the new Apple Valley Transit Station on Jan. 4.

Route 480

  • Connections notes will be adjusted when the new schedule is published Jan. 4
    in conjunction with the opening of the new Apple Valley Transit Station.

Route 484
