Metro Transit Text/SMS Terms of Service

These Service Terms govern your access to, and use of, the Metro Transit SMS/text service for NexTrip and rider alerts ("Service") provided by the Metropolitan Council through its Metro Transit division ("the Council"). These Service Terms do not alter in any way the terms of any written agreement signed by you and the Council. If you are using the Service on behalf of any entity, you represent and warrant that you are authorized to accept these Service Terms on such entity's behalf and the term "you" shall refer to you personally and such entity. You agree to comply with, and to ensure compliance with, all laws, ordinances, and regulations applicable to your activities in using the Service.

The Service and Accessing the Service

The Service allows transit riders to send a text message (SMS, MMS, or RCS message) to the short code 50934 with bus or train stop numbers and get a returned text message with the estimated departure times for upcoming bus or train trips at a bus or rail stop. Transit riders can also subscribe to receive rider alert text messages regarding transit service disruptions or changes.

NexTrip via Text

To access the Service and receive departure information for all routes at a stop, text the stop number to 50934. You will receive a reply text message from Metro Transit with the estimated times for the next bus or train departures at that stop. To receive estimated departure times for a specific route at that stop, text the stop number, a space, and then the route number to 50934. You will receive a reply text message from Metro Transit with the estimated times for the next departures for that route at that stop. By sending a text message and using the Service, you CONSENT to receiving, and authorize the receipt of, text messages from Metro Transit. If you do NOT consent to receive, and authorize the receipt of, text messages from Metro Transit, do not hit “send” to use the Service and no further action is required.

Departure information provided are estimated times.

You will not receive a text message regarding NexTrip if you do not send a text message to 50934.

Rider Alerts via Text

To receive text message alerts about Metro Transit service changes or disruptions, visit metrotransit.org/rider-alerts and select the option to sign up for/manage an account. After creating an account, choose the text/SMS option, provide your phone number and select routes to receive alerts for, and you will begin receiving Metro Transit service alerts from the short code 50934 when any alerts occur that match your subscription selections. By signing up for Metro Transit rider alerts text/SMS messages and providing your phone number, you CONSENT to receiving, and authorize the receipt of, text messages from Metro Transit. If you do NOT consent to receive, and authorize the receipt of, text messages from Metro Transit, do not sign up for a Rider Alerts account. The frequency of text messages you receive will vary.
