Rail Closures

ATTENTION: Beginning with first trips on Saturday, May 9 through end of service on Sunday, May 10, buses will replace METRO Blue Line trains to allow for needed repair work as part of the multi-phase Track & Signals project. Buses will replace trains between Target Field and Fort Snelling stations in both directions. The METRO Green Line will be operating at the downtown Minneapolis stations. Find your specific replacement bus locations for all stations at the links below.

NOTE: Replacement bus timing can vary and trips may take longer because of needed routing and traffic conditions. Please plan extra time for your trip.

Regular train service will resume for these stations on Monday, May 11.

As part of the multi-phase Track and Signals project of the Renew the Blue system restoration initiative, replacement Blue Line bus service will also operate during these dates and between these stations in 2026*:

  • May 30 – 31: Target Field and Fort Snelling stations
  • June 29 – Aug. 19: Target Field and Mall of America stations
The shared downtown Minneapolis METRO Green Line stations will also be affected during segments of the June 29 – Aug. 19 Blue Line maintenance period:
    • June 29 – July 26: Buses replace Green Line trains between Target Field and West Bank stations
    • Aug. 16 – 19: Buses replace Green Line trains between Target Field and West Bank stations

*Dates and affected stations are subject to change

Replacement bus service for shutdowns on the METRO Blue and Green lines

When rail maintenance, construction or other disruptions prevent light rail trains from operating, buses are used to replace rail service. Buses run on similar schedules as trains but can take more time. Customers are urged to plan accordingly. The maps below show where to board replacement buses on the Blue and Green lines.

Customers can receive additional information by calling 612-373-3333. When an unscheduled disruption occurs, real-time information is posted on Metro Transit's X and Facebook accounts. Customers may also sign up to receive alerts by text and email using Rider Alerts.
