Improvements to one of Metro Transit's busiest boarding areas, the Brooklyn Center Transit Center, are underway.
When construction is complete in early-2021, customers and staff will find new canopies, benches, ticket machines, bike racks and a refreshed interior space. Accessibility improvements are also being made.
"This renovation will refresh this facility while making improvements for safety and security and providing more space for bus operators and police officers," Project Manager Alicia Vap said. "We thank our customers, operators, officers, and facility staff for their patience and flexibility during this busy project."
During construction, boarding areas and gate assignments will temporarily shift. The indoor waiting area is expected to remain closed until 2021 as improvements are made to restrooms, an operator breakroom and a police substation.
BCTC is served by the METRO C Line and several other routes, including the 5, 19 and 22. The facility opened in 2004.
