METRO C Line brings faster, more frequent service to the northwest metro
The METRO C Line bus rapid transit project opened on June 8, 2019. The C Line substantially replaced Route 19, traveling primarily on Penn Avenue and Olson Memorial Highway between downtown Minneapolis and Brooklyn Center.
Future Changes
During project planning in 2016, the Metropolitan Council approved a plan to move the C Line to Glenwood Avenue from Olson Memorial Highway, in coordination with METRO Blue Line Extension light rail transit opening on Olson Memorial Highway.
Since that action, the light rail route has been revised. In June 2022, Hennepin County and the Metropolitan Council adopted a new Blue Line Extension route that will not run along Olson Memorial Highway. More information about the status of the Blue Line Extension.
Since light rail will no longer serve Olson Memorial Highway, the C Line is planned to remain on its current routing. Metro Transit will advance planning for permanent stations on Olson Memorial Highway in the future.
