Program Guidelines

Registered program participants can use the Guaranteed Ride Home program up to four times per year (based on your signup date) or $100 in value, whichever comes first.

To participate in the program, you must have an e-mail address and Internet access. You must be 18 years of age or older. Users are not permitted to register on behalf of someone else. 

Late submissions and requests with incomplete information will be declined. 

Taxi reimbursements will be sent to the mailing address in your profile, so make sure it is current before you submit your request. 

Only the fare portion of the receipt is eligible for reimbursement under this program.
What kind of trips are eligible? (The trip must be a part of your regular commute to work or post secondary school.)

  1. Personal Illness or emergency medical issue
  2. Sick child or dependent Family emergency
  3. Unplanned overtime
  4. Bus did not arrive or was excessively late
  5. Regular car/vanpool unavailable

Who is eligible?

Commuters who use any of the following to get to work or a post secondary school at least three times per week:

  1. Ride the bus, light rail or Northstar
  2. Carpool or vanpool
  3. Bicycle or walk

To use your ride home on a bus or train, use your Go-To card or pass to pay for the ride. Within 10 days of the trip, log on to your account and fill out an online reimbursement request. We’ll credit your balance with the amount you paid. 

To use your ride home for taxi, car-share, transportation network company (Uber, Lyft, etc) or car rental trip, call the service provider of your choice. Pay for the ride and be sure to get a signed and dated receipt. Fill out an online reimbursement request, then print and sign the form. Mail the signed form and original, valid receipt within 10 days of the ride to the address on the form. You will receive reimbursement by check by US mail within 3 weeks after we receive the request form and receipt. 

What trips are not eligible?

  1. Personal errands
  2. Trips to or from the airport, Amtrak or Greyhound station
  3. Prescheduled trips and appointments
  4. Non-commute related trips
  5. Other trips deemed ineligible by Metro Transit
