Metro Transit is changing the service used to manage rider alert subscriptions and send out alert emails and text messages. All rider alerts subscribers will need to re-subscribe through this new system by Monday, Nov. 11 to continue receiving rider alerts.
How to sign up
With this new service, subscribers will manage alert options through a metrotransit.org account.
- Go to metrotransit.org/alertsregister.
- You will have the option to sign in to your metrotransit.org account if you have one, or create an account
- If you have an a metrotransit.org account but forgot your username or password, click on the “Forgot username or password?” link on the sign in page and enter your email address to receive an email with your username and a temporary password.
- Once you are signed in to your account, select the routes you want to continue to receive rider alerts for and your preferred method for receiving alerts (email or text).
Once those steps are complete, you’re all set! Log back into your account at any time to change your subscription preferences.
How do I know if I already have a metrotransit.org account?
You may already have a metrotransit.org account if you have created one for other services, such as:
- Purchasing tickets through the Metro Transit mobile app
- Signing up for a Commuter Services program (such as Guaranteed Ride Home, Carpool, Bike & Ride)
- Enrolling in Auto Refill for your fare card
If you are unsure, you can try creating a new account. If the email address you use is already associated with an existing account, you will be prompted to sign in or reset your password.
Duplicate alerts during this transition
If you use the same contact information to receive alerts in the new system that you did in the old system, you should not receive duplicate alerts. If you do receive copies of the same alert, you can still access your old account to unsubscribe (otherwise you will stop receiving duplicates when we discontinue using the old system).
New feature – Pause alerts
There is a new feature – you can temporarily pause receiving your alerts if desired. Simply select the “Pause alerts” button to temporarily stop receiving alerts, and “Resume alerts” to begin receiving them again.
Future improvements
A benefit of the new rider alerts subscriptions system is that Metro Transit will be able to develop more options in the future for you to customize your subscriptions (such as selecting the days of the week you use transit, stops you typically use, etc.). Be on the lookout for more information to come.
