On March 22, Metro Transit will make changes to transit service throughout the metro. As always, these quarterly service changes are being made to ensure we’re providing reliable service that meets your needs. Service levels are increasing by about 5% thanks to continued growth in the bus operator workforce. There are now around 1,300 bus operators on staff.
Some highlights this quarter include:
- METRO Gold Line opens!
- Updated station locations in downtown St. Paul to help improve onboarding/alighting and on-time performance with the addition of new Bus Rapid Transit lines in 2025.
- Trip times adjusted on several routes to account for beginning of spring/summer construction projects.
- Attention! These routes will have additional changes due to construction after March 22: 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 17, 22, 32, 61, 62, 63, 65, 67, 114, and METRO D Line.

METRO Gold Line (PDF)
- New METRO Gold Line will replace Route 351 between Smith & 5th St. Station in downtown St. Paul and Woodlane Dr. Station in Woodbury.
METRO D Line (PDF)
- Early morning and late-night trip times will be adjusted for all days for route connections in downtown Minneapolis.

ROUTE 2 (PDF)
- Eastbound trips will start at Dupont Ave & 22nd St. instead of Hennepin Ave. & 22nd St. and will leave 2 minutes earlier.
ROUTE 3 (PDF)
- Trip times will be adjusted for all days to better match current travel time.
- Route 3E trip departing Anderson Hall at 3:14 p.m. will be eliminated.
ROUTE 6 (PDF)
- Southbound trip times will be adjusted between 27th Ave. & University Ave. and 4th St. & 15th Ave. to better reflect current travel time.
ROUTE 7 (PDF)
- On weekdays, southbound trips will depart Plymouth Ave. & Theodore Wirth Pkwy. 2 minutes earlier between 6:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
- Timepoint at Plymouth Ave. & 7th St. will be removed.
ROUTE 9 (PDF)
- On weekdays, eastbound trips will start 3 minutes earlier 2:30 to 9:30 p.m.
- On weekdays, westbound trips serving Hedberg Dr. & Greenbrier Rd. at 5:18 and 6:17 p.m. will instead serve Louisiana Ave. Transit Center.
- Timepoint at Cedar Lake Rd. & Louisiana Ave. removed on trips that service Louisiana Ave. Transit Center.

- Route will relocate to serve new METRO Gold Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations in downtown St. Paul to allow for improved boarding/alighting and on-time performance.
- Timepoints at 5th St. & 7th St., 5th St. & Minnesota St., 6th St. & Cedar St., and at 6th St. & 7th St. in downtown St. Paul will be replaced by new timepoints at Smith & 5th St. Station, 5th St. & Cedar Station and 6th St. & Minnesota Station, and Smith & Kellogg Station.

- Trip times will be adjusted on weekdays in anticipation of I-94 construction.
- Trip times will be adjusted for all days to reflect current travel time.

- Timepoint at Eustis St. and Como Ave. will be removed in anticipation of Eustis St. construction.

- First eastbound trip currently departing Berry St. & University Ave. at 5:03 a.m. will be eliminated.
ROUTE 46 (PDF)
- Westbound, school day only trips currently departing 46th St. Station at 7:32 and 7:58 a.m. will be eliminated.
- The remaining westbound school day only trip will depart 46th St. Station 2 minutes later at 7:36 a.m.
- Trip times will be adjusted all days for consistency.
- Frequency will be improved to alternate every 30 and 60 minutes in the evening all days.
ROUTE 54 (PDF)
- Route will relocate to serve new METRO Gold Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations in downtown St. Paul to allow for improved boarding/alighting and on-time performance.
- Timepoints at 5th St. & Minnesota St. and at 6th St. & Cedar St. in downtown St. Paul will be replaced by new timepoints at 5th St. & Cedar Station and 6th St. & Minnesota Station.
- Eastbound trips departing Mall of America Transit Station at 5:34 a.m. on weekdays, and 5:25 a.m. on Saturdays, will instead depart at 5:26 a.m. on weekdays and Saturdays.

- Timepoints at Arlington Ave. & Rice St., Larpenteur Ave. & Arcade St., and Arcade St. & Minnehaha Ave. will be removed in anticipation of Rice St. construction and Arcade St. construction.
